Hallway Heroes
.
Hallway Heroes is a program at Newton Collins that encourages parents, relatives and community members to serve as positive role models on campus, while also providing the opportunity to be an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school safety.
You must be approved by the district as a volunteer before you can get started.
Why Should I Be a Hallway Hero?
Positive role models on campus not only support our students socially and academically, but also contribute to overall safety and security. We
appreciate all of our campus volunteers, especially our Hallway Heroes.
Do I have to Volunteer the Whole Day?
We ask that Hallway Hero volunteers schedule at least 4 hours on campus. We will offer two separate volunteer slots, one in the AM and the other in the PM. Our campus appreciates the time you are able to serve and will work with you to schedule your volunteer day.
What will I be doing as a Hallway Hero?
- Engage and talk with students throughout the campus.
- Interact with students during recess, lunch and social times throughout the day such as in the hallway.
- Provide support during campus-wide events
- Support the arrival/dismissal process
As a Hallway Hero, you MIGHT
- Provide an extra set of eyes to inspect gates and doors.
- Other duties can include monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
